we love small towns
Why small towns? Is this a question our clients ask us? Not often. But it IS something we hear from people outside our community: why choose to build a practice in a small town instead of a city?
For us, the answer is simple. We live here, we are from here, and we are committed to supporting families here through accessible, high-quality speech, reading, feeding and language therapy.
In communities like Fergus, Erin, Elora, and Shelburne, care is personal. We don’t just see families in the clinic—we see them at the grocery store, at local events, and on the same sports teams as our own children. This connection gives us a deeper understanding of each child’s environment and allows us to provide more meaningful, functional therapy.
Collaboration is a cornerstone of practice in small towns. We work closely with schools, educators, and other health professionals to ensure consistent and well-rounded care. When we visit schools, relationships are already established. Teachers and principals know us, trust our work, and reach out when support is needed. This level of connection allows for more seamless and effective intervention.
We understand the families, schools, and priorities of our towns because we are part of these communities. This shared experience supports therapy that feels familiar, practical, and grounded in real-life needs.
Access to speech language pathology services can be limited in smaller and rural communities. Many families face long wait times in larger urban centres. Our goal is to reduce barriers by offering no wait list speech and language therapy services whenever possible, ensuring children receive support when it matters most.
Location also matters. Traveling to larger cities for appointments can be time-consuming and stressful for families. By providing support to smaller more rural towns, we reduce travel demands and offer care closer to home. Flexible scheduling and local availability help make therapy more accessible and consistent.
Providing local speech and language therapy with no waitlist is our way of giving back to the communities we care about.
